About Our School
Established in 1991, the school was named after its co-founding siblings, now Directors, Bertha and Harry Kumwenda. With a very humble beginning of a township crèche, and with only three learners, the school first opened its doors in Endulwini, at St Mathews Catholic Church premises. The school improved each passing year with the introduction of the Primary school phase as the children graduated from the pre-school. The school prides itself as the first black owned private school, in the township, to have English as its Home Language and Afrikaans, IsiZulu and Sepedi as First Additional Languages. Bertharry English Private School is located in the heart of the vibrant Township of Tembisa in Gauteng Province. It is situated at 14 Mapungubwe Street, Temong Section, Tembisa. Most of the learners that are enrolled at the school reside within Tembisa itself. We also do have learners that come from areas as far as Olifantsfontein, Kaalfontein, Midrand, Birch Acres, and even beyond. Our reach has gone beyond Tembisa.

Testimonials
The best part of my experience has got to be the open-armed friendliness that this school perpetuates. It has helped me grow from someone who was in a shell to someone who is comfortable and proud to be myself.

When I was looking for a high school, my English teacher recommended that I attend this high school. Moreover, when I looked at their website, I was attracted by the atmosphere of the school (class size etc…) and the matric pass rate.

The people are the best part of B.E.P.S. Everyone is very nice and accepting and it makes for a great learning environment. I have never felt so a part of a community before I came to B.E.P.S.

I would recommend this high school to other students because they will get to learn good traits and methods of learning. The school also has a good setting,
